Stainless Steel 420 Rings are martensitic stainless steel with proportions of chromium (up to 12-14%) and a relatively higher carbon content (about 0.15-0.40%). This chemical mix requires heat treatment to obtain ultimate high strength while continuously maintaining corrosion resistance, most especially when the surface is clean and polished. High carbon proportions help 420 alloy rings retain hardness and outlast wear when low carbon grades like 410 cannot actually perform.
