Stainless Steel 17-4PH is a martensitic alloy delivering excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and significant mechanical properties. SS 17-4PH alloy has structural stiffness (up to 316°C). This grade is available in seamless rolled form, precision rolled form, plate-cut form, and other forms depending upon the requirements. 17-4PH, also widely known as the UNS S17400/ AISI 630 / Werkstoff 1.4542 alloy, offers significant strength and mechanical properties when used across high-temperature environments. SS 17-4PH is constructed into seamless rolled rings and open die forged forms to provide uninterrupted grain flow enclosing circumference for continuous performance in equipment parts under several conditions. 17-4PH has a chemical composition of chromium up to (15-17.5%) and additions of copper, carbon, and ferrous elements for complete stabilization. It is available in outer diameter up to (50-3000 mm) and thickness or height (up to 300-500 mm+).
Alloy 17-4PH is essentially supplied in different conditions. Condition A, also known as solution annealed, is usually a good choice for machining environments. The standard precipitation hardening condition produces various forms (including H900, H925, H1025, H1150, and so on) designed for significant toughness and strength to meet industry demands.
Stainless Steel 17-4PH rings are a good choice when applications are highly exposed to corrosive environments (almost equivalent to SS 304 grades). It features tensile strength (up to 1310 MPa) and hardness level (up to 40-44 HRC) in H900 condition. This grade ring retains mechanical properties (up to 600°F) and resists stress corrosion cracking better than many martensitic grade stainless steels. 17-4PH, with a heat treatment procedure, results in minimal distortion. We have variation among properties: for maximum corrosion resistance, H1150 is an excellent choice, while for maximum strength, H900 can be preferred. 17-4PH has a seamless design allowing good grain flow, improving pressure resistance and fatigue properties when compared with welded rings. Stainless Steel 17-4PH alloy rings can be used under cyclic stress, excess pressure, or rotational loads without reducing general performance.
The 17-4PH is built to serve across aerospace components, oil and gas industries, turbines, and critical rotating components, and other applications that require good corrosion resistance and load-bearing properties. SS 17-4PH rings are ready-to-use material under the toughest environments. General applications that are ideal with Alloy 17-4PH include pressure-vessel flanges, hub-mount blanks, pump and motor parts, shaft-end retention, petrochemical components, pump parts, and aerospace essential components.
