Inconel 617 alloy is also referred to as UNS N06617 / Werkstoff Nr. 2.4663 based on ASTM/ASME B564, B168, and B166 international standards. Inconel 617 alloy is a nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum composite alloy designed to survive extremely high-temperature environments when standard steel grades fall apart in terms of consistency and performance. This grade delivers outstanding metallurgical stability and superior strength, while oxidation resistance can survive up to 1093°C.
Inconel 617 alloy rings offer high-temperature mechanical strength and overall stability at high-heat atmospheres. It offers exceptional oxidation resistance up to 1093°C. 617 alloy rings resist chlorine-induced environments and are also immune to stress corrosion cracking. It's a non-magnetic solution frequently suitable for sensitive applications. Inconel 617 rings are widely known for their combination of excellent robustness throughout cryogenic to elevated temperature environments.
Inconel 617 alloy is available in seamless rings rolled using the method to decrease the thickness and increase the diameter, resulting in good grain flow over the circumference, while open die forging is used for larger custom sections to give high strength and to handle the largest sizes. These Inconel 617 rings are easy to machine using general conventional methods for iron-related alloys. This grade alloy also features good welding and forming properties.
The common range of applications involved with Inconel 617 alloy rings includes aerospace and gas turbines (including combustion cans, acting, transition liners, and hot gas turbines), chemical processing (petrochemical processing units, nitric acid production equipment), heat treating equipment (such as heat treating fixtures, and industrial furnace systems), and power generation tools.
